We’ll say it again like we’ve said it so many times before: This heinous crime was 100% preventable. This is what happens with open borders and sanctuary cities.
This illegal alien was twice deported from the United States but found sanctuary in Jersey City, NJ before brutally murdering a 45-year-old woman and dumping her body in a public park’s lake.
Jersey City is a sanctuary city. And ALL of New Jersey was given Sanctuary State status by its new Governor and Attorney General.
Such lawless domains do nothing to protect their citizens, while shielding illegal alien criminals like this rapist and murderer.
The suspect in the rape, strangulation and drowning death of Caroline Cano is an illegal alien from Honduras.
Did he come in with one of the dozens of waves of recent invaders, or with one of the “caravans” the left is always defending?
According to Caroline Cano’s roommate, she had gone out for an early morning jog on Sunday and never came home.
After a search, the 45-year-old was found dead in a local lake close to her home. Caroline was still wearing her sneakers when she was found by Jersey City police in the lake and hadn’t been there long.
The Medical Examiner determined her death was caused by “strangulation” and “water submersion”. She had also been sexually assaulted.
ABC News reports:
After detectives viewed video evidence, Jorge Rios was charged with murder, felony murder, kidnapping, and aggravated sexual assault. Rios lives nearby and was a frequent visitor to the park, according to detectives.
The video evidence revealed that Rios followed Cano as she was jogging with headphones on then raped her. He murdered her by “strangulation” and “water submersion.”
The Jersey City Mayor spoke out about the murder.
But what he DID NOT “speak out” on was his OWN role in making his city safe for foreign rapists and murders.
“Our understanding is that it was strangers, and he frequented the park, and we feel real comfortable that we have the right person based on his statements. When you understand the video, the background, and the statements, this was just a horrible situation. The entire circumstance was a terrible thing, and the prosecutors did a great job wrapping it up quick.”
The Governor and AG are also under attack by citizens:
Since Jersey City is a sanctuary city, is the city not liable for the death of Caroline Cano? Is the state not liable given its sanctuary directive?
